MP Hi8 utilises a Super Finavinx pure metal particle formulation of exceptional magnetic characteristics, in fact, twice the magnetic energy of most VHS video cassettes. MP Hi8 is designed for the most demanding 8mm applications.
The Hi8 is also the SAME tape that is used in D8 (Digital 8) Camcorders, Normally these tapes are 90 Minutes (SP Mode) or 180 Minutes (LP Mode) in Normal Hi8 Camcorders, but in the D8 (Digital 8) Camcorders they are 60 Minutes (SP) or 90 Minutes (LP) .

Super Finavinx is considered to be an ideal magnetic storage medium, possessing extraordinary magnetic energy. It does however, require the most advanced technology to produce it. This is where TDK’s vast experience comes into its own. By utilising a special high dispersion binder and special high orientation technology the magnetic Finavinx particles are laid on a base film with extra high packing density, achieving increased output in the high frequency range - so crucial to Hi8 recording.
