Voltage Adaptors

Change 110 Volt (USA) to 240 Volt (AUSTRALIA)

You have just arrived in Australia, or you have just imported an Appliance from Americia and found it is 110 volt,
But over here we use 240 Volt !!
So this is what you need, a 240 - 115V Isolated Stepdown Transformer.
You will need to know how many Watts the unit is rated at, this should be on the item,
it will state Voltage INPUT eg 110 volt and a Wattage or Curent Rating eg 100 VA or .2 amp.
So check your rating and select the unit you are going to buy is ABOVE your rating.

A WORD ON ISOLATION THIS MEANS THAT:

The primary (240V) & secondary (115V) are totally electrically isolated (Dieletric isolation).
This is the safest way of making a mains voltage conversion.
We recommend this type of transformer whenever the application is medical or medically related
or where the secondary equipment is to be operated in or near water or a high moisture environment.
Note the 240V earth is connected directly to the 115V socket earth.

Convert a Boat or Caravan from 110 Volt to 240 volt?

We have been geting more and more people ask what size Transformer will
I need to change my Imported boat from 110 volt to 240 volt for australian use?
For example, Eddie emailed me,
> I have a boat that was imported from Japan and is
> fitted with 120V appliances and I was hoping to
> obtain a step down that will allow me to use
> these items while connected to shore power.
>
> The circuit breaker indicates 120V AC 60hz.
> I am a little confused and wonder if you can
> assist and whether you have a step down to suit.
>
> The appliances fitted are and I have obtained the
> details off the manufacturers plate:
>
> 1. Stove- 120V 2200 watts
> 2. Fridge 120V 0.4 amps
> 3. Hot water heater 120V 1500 watts
> 4. Battery Charger 115 volt 2.5 amp in.
So what you do is add up the Wattage of all your Items,
2200 + (120 x 0.4) + 1500 + (115 x 2.5) = 4035.50 WATTS
So thats a lot of wattage and a very big Transformer! So the best thing to do is contact an Electrician
and get the bigger items converted to 240 volt, or even LPG,
eg The Stove and Hot water heaters are 2 things I would do first. You would then Need a converter for Only 335 Watts.
